Driver started car, was moving, then ejected before his car injured him
PUEBLO, COLO. -- On Tuesday just before 2 p.m., officers from the Pueblo Police Department responded to a reported serious injury traffic crash at Bypass Hwy. 50 and Norwood.
Rocky B. Garcia, 51, of Pueblo, was driving a silver Nissan and attempted to make a left turn from eastbound Bypass Hwy. 50 onto northbound Norwood, according to police.
His vehicle appeared to stall in the intersection. Garcia was able to get the vehicle moving and continued to make his turn when a blue Mitsubishi driven by Elena Jaramillo, 22, of Pueblo, while traveling westbound struck Garcia's vehicle.
The impact caused Garcia’s vehicle to rotate, throwing him out of the passenger window when it ran over the man.
Jaramillo’s vehicle came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the highway.
Both people were transported to Parkview Hospital.
Jaramillo was being treated for minor injuries and Garcia was being treated for injuries of an unknown severity.
Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
