CORTEZ, Colo. (AP) -- A man accused of killing his father and dismembering parts of his corpse to feed to coyotes will be in court in Montezuma County.
Attorneys in the case of 21-year-old Jeremiah R. Berry will update the court on the status of his case Thursday. Berry has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to second-degree murder in the February 2008 death of his father, Jack Berry.
Jeremiah Berry has undergone psychiatric evaluations to determine whether he's fit to stand trial.
Court records say Jeremiah Berry claims his father raped him after telling the son he needed a sex change to become his wife.
Jeremiah Berry is being held on $500,000 bond.
