COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO -- Could a criminal case pending against the man found murdered in Palmer Park be linked to his death?
FOX21 News has new details on the investigation into the murder of 43-year-old Jon Hazard.
Police have found Hazard's 2009 white Hyundai Sonata. They are not releasing details about where the car was found or if its discovery led to any leads.
Police were looking for the car after a caretaker of Palmer Park found Hazard dead Monday morning. His body was lying off a trail near the Marvin J. Urban Picnic Pavilion.
An autopsy revealed Hazard was shot to death.
Just as police look for Hazard's killer, another case will come to a close.
Hazard had been charged with sexual assault on a child just six months ago.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hazard had been having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl living in Colorado Springs for about three years.
In the affidavit, the girl says Hazard provided alcohol for her and her friends and videotaped her making out with another boy.
From that time on she said Hazard used the tape as ammo to force her to engage in sexual activity.
According to the girl, she asked if she had to and he said, "Yes."
Today police haven't identified any suspects, but say they are considering the possibility someone related to the sexual assault case could be responsible for Hazard's death.
FOX21 News also talked with former neighbors of Hazard at the Creekside Apartments where the affidavit indicates he lived until at least December.
One man says he had a garage right next to Hazard. He describes Hazard as quiet but nice, and said he was shocked when police arrived at the apartments in December to investigate the sexual assault.
