Motorcycle hit commercial truck on I-25 near Cimarron exit on Thursday
Sgt. 1st Class Justin Alfred Petersen, a Special Forces soldier, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Fort Carson has today released the name of the soldier killed on Thursday morning in an accident on Interstate 25 near the Cimarron Street exit.
Sgt. 1st Class Justin Alfred Petersen, a Special Forces soldier, 27, was pronounced dead on the scene in the incident where he and another man were riding motorcyles and Petersen attemped to pass a truck, crossing the dirt median to get around the vehicle. His motorcycle hit on the passenger side of the truck, according to police reports.
Petersen was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces group.
His hometown is listed as Rock Springs, Wyo., and his date of entry into the Army in June 2000.
He served two deployments to Iraq, for 14 months from May 2003 to July 2004, and then again in March 2007 through October 2007.
Petersen was highly decorated during this time with the Army, as follows:
