COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Colorado Springs Flames was established in 1987 as the Olympians by owner Bob Harrelson, and has been a member of the Colorado Football Conference (CFC) since Its Inception in 1989.

The name was changed in 1990 to the Flames by then owner Bill Jacobs. Its logo was changed to its present state in 2001 by owner Kasey Cibart. 

The CFC is a state of Colorado network of compliant, semi-professional football teams located in the Denver Metro, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Cheyenne, Wyo., areas.

The teams consist of players who are not paid, but instead, pay to play the sport they love. 

The Flames organization prides itself on being an organization that is willing and looks forward to helping young adults promote positive attitudes while enjoying the sport of football. The team supports expansion of the hopes of these players with possibilities of playing at the next level, college or professional. 

The Flames organization has won six CFC Titles (competed in nine), won three Minor League Battle of The Plains Bowl games and appeared in 15 divisional title games during the span of 16 years.

The CFC is a nonprofit organization whose teams annually rank high among the nations top semi-professional football organizations. 

The conference schedule usually consist of an eight-game season with playoffs at season's end. 

The Colorado Springs Flames ,in keeping compliance with the CFC rules and standards, is also a nonprofit amateur organization.  Team try-outs are conducted annually during the month of March and competition is fierce as indicated by the 2007 try-outs, where more than 80 players competed to make the team.
