Two D49 board members facing recall
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A group of about 50 parents met Saturday at the Sand Creek Police Substation to lay out plans to get signatures for the recall of Falcon School District 49 Board Members Dave Martin and Kent Clawson.
The group has 90 days to get about 3,500 signatures per candidate.
"I think there is a lot of excitement in there. I think there has been a sense in the community that there's been so many challenges in so many ways that to finally sit down say we have something in writing it's through the county election board and so now we can actually move forward," said Community Member Christopher Wright.
Community Members are accusing the entire board of not being transparent and acting on individual agendas.
FOX21 spoke to both board members about the allegations earlier this week.
"I think it's easy to Monday morning quarter back it, but we've got a lot of committed board members. I think it would be irresponsible for me not to fight it. People elected me to go and have the hard discussion," said Board Member Kent Clawson.
To get ready for that fight, the community group is preparing candidates to run against the two board members possibly being recalled as well as the other three board members up for re-election.
