Snow on and off all Friday
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- First we have a winter that feels like spring and then the beginnings of a spring that feels a lot like winter.
So how are people in the Springs dealing with Friday's storm?
"I was ready for spring, a little disappointed," said Randy Smith.
"Get ready for spring and winter rears its ugly head," said Greg Caicedo.
From the north end of the Springs, to the south. It feels like two different storms...
"It's always different here in Colorado Springs. Coming up 1-25 was pretty hairy as you got closer to Briargate." said Caicedo.
Monument is getting almost twice as much snow as downtown Colorado Springs.
By 3:00 P.M. Friday, the roads traded their snow for melting sludge and water for at least a few hours.
"Pretty typical," Smith said.
The snow shut down schools, city and county offices, and area businesses, giving Springs residents a snow day.
"It's a Friday you want that extra day off your weekend," said Zachary Hozer.
I found kids sledding, others building snow men, and it wasn't just the kids having fun.
"I love it when it's sunny out and there's lots of snow. The dog has been cooped up all morning so we are taking her for a walk," said Mary Caicedo.
"I like the change," said Rob Smither.
While that sounds fun, driving in the snow was not for many.
The Colorado Springs police are on accident alert status and cold reporting is in effect.
