PUEBLO, COLO. -- A man has been shot and a suspect arrested after a shooting that took place in the early morning hours on Friday in Pueblo.
At 4:15 am on April 17, 2009, the Pueblo County Communications Center received a call that shots had been fired in the 800 block of S. Knox Dr. in Pueblo West.
According to police, David Vega, 28, was at an after-hours party at a friend's house. An altercation occurred and Vega was shot once in the abdomen. He was taken to Parkview Medical Center. At this time, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
Shortly after the shooting, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle leaving the scene. Deputies arrested a suspect, Shawn V. Romero, age 18.
The gun believed to be used in this crime was recovered by sheriff’s deputies.
Romero is being charged with criminal intent to commit first-degree murder, a Class 2 Felony.
