COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Two Colorado Springs residents have been arrested in separate incidents for Internet crimes against children.

Michael Lee Eichsteadt, 37, was arrested on Monday, April 13. Police received a tip from his estranged wife of Eichsteadt being in possession of possible sexually exploitive images.

Jaime Bush Schneider, 42, known as Jim, was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 15.

Authorities were tipped off regarding transmission of sexual images in an online forum. Further investigation revealed Schneider was a music and band teacher at Timberview Middle School, and Thursday the parents were notified during a meeting.

Some parents of D-20's Timberview Middle School were already aware of the meeting. Others were surprised, but most everyone FOX21 News talked with has had a lot of respect for Schneider.

"Shock. We really think the world of him. We really had respected the job he's done. Shocked that it's happened and sickened by it," said parent Juanita Kellie.

"I'm shocked and my daughters have been in band for three years," added another parent, Nancy Starr.

"It's one of those things that we're waiting and seeing what's going to happen with it because it's just a very surreal type thing happening," parent Catherine Schendzielos said.

That's the reaction most parents had when given the news of Timberview band teacher Jim Schneider, and his arrest on charges of Internet crimes against children.

Concerned father Vincent Colon had other questions for D-20 officials.

"I'm not going to judge as far as whether we should hang him or not. What I am concerned about is the school, their initial responsibility when somebody is hired," Colon said.

The district's chief of security said there's a process for every teacher hired.

"Every teacher in the state of Colorado is required to have a criminal background check that is done by Colorado Department of Education," said Larry Borland.

Some parents will use this situation as a learning tool for their kids.

"They need to know the realities of what of what they're facing because we as parents cannot be there for them all the time," Colon added.

School officials said they will get back to business as usual, but be there for anyone needing help through this difficult time.

"I have a lot of respect for him as a teacher, and if he's proven innocent, yes, I would welcome him back to teaching my children," Kellie said.

Authorities say both men are out on bond. Eichsteadt's case is closed and will now be presented to the district attorney.

As for Schneider, the investigation into allegations remains ongoing, and both men await further hearings.
