Father found with self-inflicted gunshot wound, suspected in death of mother
AURORA, COLO. -- The Aurora man suspected of killing his children's mother and kidnapping his two young girls has been found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The girls, Brianna and Aliyah Patterson, have also been recovered safely.
This after the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon for the two young girls missing from Aurora, a suburb of Denver.
The girls' mother was found dead under suspicious circumstances shortly after 10:30 a.m.
The father, Brian Patterson, 38, is a person of interest in the death investigation and may have custody of the children. He has a history of domestic violence, according to police. He also goes by the name of Kalid Muhammed.
Patterson was thought to be driving a Silver 2002 Silver Dodge Stratus with Colorado license number 679SUP when police were looking for him on Tuesday.
Brianna Patterson, date of birth listed as June 9, 2004, is described with brown hair and brown eyes and is African-American.
Her sister, Aliyah Patterson, was born on June 13, 2005, and is also African-American.
