NEW YORK (AP) -- New York police say a longtime Colorado radio reporter was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment with a stab wound to his neck.

Police have declared George Weber's death a homicide. His body was found Sunday after he failed to show up for work. Autopsy results were expected later Monday.

The 47-year-old Weber worked at WABC-AM for 12 years. He had previously worked at KIMN-AM, KOA-AM and KHOW-AM in Denver, as well as KGO-AM in San Francisco and KTLK-AM and KMPC-AM in Los Angeles.

Kris Olinger, who hired Weber at KOA, says she's "absolutely shocked" at news of his death.

WABC let him go amid programming changes last year. He had since worked as a freelancer for ABC News Radio, the national network.

His last newscast was on March 15.
