DENVER (AP) — The mother of a University of Colorado student who died of alcohol poisoning has settled her lawsuit against a fraternity that she claimed was responsible for the death.

Leslie Lanahan's attorney, Bruce Jones, said Tuesday that a settlement was reached with the Chi Psi fraternity and the Alpha Psi Delta Corporation of Chi Psi. He said the settlement amount is confidential.

Lynn "Gordie" Bailey of Dallas died Sept. 17, 2004. He had lapsed into unconsciousness after drinking large amounts of alcohol the night before at an initiation ritual with other Chi Psi pledges.

Jones said the fraternity agreed to take steps to prevent a similar death. Lanahan settled similar claims against several fraternity members about a year ago.
