Now faces up to 18 months in jail
DURANGO, COLO. (AP) -- A man faces up to 18 months in jail after a jury convicted him of trespassing and of assaulting a security guard at Planned Parenthood in Durango.
Forty-nine-year-old Jean-Paul Wright of Pagosa Springs is scheduled to be sentenced March 25. He declined to comment Friday outside the courtroom after the misdemeanor convictions were
announced.
Wright's lawyer Michael Norton said he thought the outcome would be different.
Prosecutors said Wright was protesting abortion services June 11 when his sign blew away. One witness testified that Wright tackled 50-year-old security guard Pamela Beckert when she refused to
return the sign.
