Can send packages, letters via Express Mail at later dates
DENVER -- The United States Postal Service reminds customers that the regular deadline is Thursday, Dec. 11, to send holiday cards, letters and packages to most international countries/destinations including Mexico, Canada, Europe and to Asia/the Pacific Rim.
The Dec. 11 deadline also applies to mailing to most U.S. military overseas APO/FPO locations except for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the deadline was Dec. 4.
However, the U.S. Postal Service will still work with U.S. military postal personnel to still try and ensure delivery to the troops there by Christmas if customers missed the Dec. 4 deadline. Customers can still mail to most overseas military and to international countries after Dec. 11 using Express Mail.
As for U.S. deadlines by regular mail, send holiday cards and packages to out-of-state destinations by Sat., Dec. 20. Mail in-state by Mon., Dec. 22. Express Mail is available for mailing to major U.S. cities until Dec. 23.
More information on holiday mailing can be found at usps.com, by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) or by visiting your local Post Office.
