On Wed., Dec. 10, local restaurants are donating proceeds from the day to the Empty Stocking Fund

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Residents of the Pikes Peak region have an opportunity to contribute to the 2008-2009 Gazette-El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund just by dining out.
For the first time, the fund has partnered with local Pikes Peak area restaurants to “Fill Up for the Empty Stocking Fund.” More than 20 different restaurants are signed up to donate 10 percent of sales on the first three Wednesdays in December.
From fast food to fine dining, there are enough options to meet every taste and budget so the entire community can take part in this unique and fun promotion that benefits an important cause.
The 25th annual Gazette-El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund is a holiday fundraising campaign that provides resources for 14 local health and human service nonprofit organizations in the Pikes Peak region on the front lines of helping people in crisis and assisting others in attaining self-sufficiency.
The Gazette and El Pomar Foundation underwrite all administrative costs so that each dollar donated goes directly to the fund’s nonprofit partners.
Additionally, the Gazette, El Pomar Foundation and the Bruni Foundation match contributions from the community to increase all donations up to 63 percent.
The Empty Stocking Fund campaign runs from Nov. 28 through Jan. 16, 2009.
