* Today is World AIDS Day and Compassion International is asking that everyone get tested for the disease. The American Collge of Physicians recommends those ages 13 and older should be screened for the AIDS virus.
* The Pikes Peak Ranger District is issuing permits to the public for cutting down Christmas trees beginning today through Dec. 17. Permits cost $10 each. They can be picked up at 601 S. Weber, Colorado Springs, or on weekends at the Woodland Park office. Cutting area is about 9500 acres.
* Volunteers of Silver Key Senior Services and Girl Scout Troops #460 and #639 will be lighting a Christmas tree at the Silver Key office, 2250 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs. It is the 22nd year the Girl Scouts have participated in the project.
