* The Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo is hosting its first ever Patient Recovery Conference today. Titled "A Walk of Hope-The Road to Recovery," the event features speakers from across the nation to promote a healthy recovery for those in medical care. The conference is free to consumers and family members, and is happening at the Colorado Mental Health Institute of Pueblo. Address is 1600 W. 24th St.
* Colorado Springs Police Department opens its own DNA lab today. The $1.6 million lab is only the second in the state operated by a local agency. Eventually the lab could expand to help police in Manitou Springs, Fountain and Woodland Park.
* Flu shots are available to military retirees and their spouses at the Retiree Appreciation and Information Fair today. It is being held at the U.S. Air Force Academy at Arnold Hall. A liimited supply of flu shot vaccines are available and will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. This year's keynote presenters will be commanders from the Academy's 10th medical group Lunch is provided beginning at 11 a.m. Flu shots begin at 8 a.m.
* The first annual Festival of Trees held at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame runs today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Decorated Christmas trees, holiday entertainment, hot chocolate and baked goods make it a festive event. Tonight the Jingle Bell Ball begins at 6:30. cost is $100 per person. Address is 101 ProRodeo Dr.
