As a result of an on-going Cold Case Investigation by detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department Violent Crimes/Homicide Unit, two individuals have been arrested in connection with a 2002 Homicide case.
On July 10, 2002, Mr. Cornelius Dowdell, then age 29, was shot and killed while in the parking lot of the Cedar Creek Club Apartments at 1070 S. Chelton Road. On October 14th, 2008, Kentswan Davis, Age 27, was served an Arrest Warrant for Murder in the First Degree related to this investigation. Mr. Davis is currently incarcerated at the New Orleans Parish Prison on a 2007 homicide case that occurred in Louisiana. At a later date, Mr. Davis will be transferred to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
On October 20th, 2008, Clifford Dupree, Age 31, was served an Arrest Warrant also for Murder in the First Degree related to this investigation while he was incarcerated at the Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center in Colorado Springs. He is at that facility in regard to a 2005 conviction for First Degree Burglary and Forgery. At a later date, Mr. Dupree will be transferred to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
At this time there are no other outstanding arrest warrants in connection with this investigation but additional arrests are anticipated.
