Airman who died at Arizona base was from Colorado Springs

GLENDALE, ARIZ. (AP) -- Flags are Luke Air Force Base in Arizona are being flown at half-staff Monday in honor of an airman who died following physical training.

Officials say Master Sgt. Iordanis  "Jordan" Velissariou was stricken Thursday at the base in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale.

The 40-year-old Velissariou was from Colorado Springs, Colo. He joined the Air Force in 1991.

At Luke, Velissariou was the fleet manager for vehicle maintenance in the 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron.

Luke is a training installation for fighter pilots.
