FORT CARSON, COLO. -- A court martial has begun at Fort Carson for the death of Army Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux.

The Texas native was found dead in her barracks last January.

There could be as many as ten panel members during the court martial.

Sgt. Vincinte Jackson has been charged with murder and premeditated murder.

If convicted he could be sentenced to life in prison.

His attorneys have declined to comment.

Fonteneaux's family said she knew Jackson, but they were not close.

Army officials have not publicly discussed a motive.
