Fort Riley helicopters train at Fort Carson

FORT CARSON, COLO. (AP) -- Helicopter pilots from Fort Riley, Kan. are using Colorado's mountains to prepare for conditions in Afghanistan.

Nearly 300 Soldiers and aircraft from the 1st Infantry Division's 1st Combat Aviation Brigade will be training at Fort Carson and in the mountains west of the post from Monday through Dec. 14.

The helicopters include Kiowas, Apaches and Blackhawks.
