COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- More excitement at Fort Carson Tuesday, as the Mountain Post welcomed home 200 soldiers from deployment.
The men and women are with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
They spent the past year in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Tuesday's welcome home ceremony, like so many before it, was full of anticipation, excitement, hugs, kisses and tears.
"Every time you are away it is hard on the family," Sgt. Charles Willoughby said.
"One day at a time, you just have to keep looking forward and keep your head up," Doug Bonnell, who welcomed home his step-son, said. "Very proud of him, glad to see him back home."
"It is difficult, yeah very difficult, but you get over it," Laura Willoughby, who was reunited with her husband, said.
"Just can not express, just so glad to see him walk through the door," Sonia Bonnell, who welcomed home her son, said.
Now the soldiers and their families will work to settle into a normal routine, but first you can not forget about Mother's Day on Sunday.
"Eat somewhere nice, whatever she wants to do," Pfc. Jordan Vaughn said about spending time with his mom.
"I can not let her know yet, but it will be a good time," Willoughby said.
