COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The power of laughter is a comical approach to healing the mind, body and spirit.
This daily gesture is an exercise that everyone can take advantage of. Laughter clubs, Laugh Circles and Laughter Yoga workouts all stem from the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria from Mumbai, India. Starting with a handful of people back in 1995. The global support has launched into the thousands world-wide.
Scientific research proves the release of certain chemicals and hormones from the brain while laughing has a positive effect throughout the body. Certified Laugh Leaders teach these methods to groups of all ages towards better health.
"Laughter benefits are unbelievable,"
Certified Laugh Leader Lucy King said. "Not only do they lower our stress, but they improve our immune system. They stabilize our blood pressure and our blood sugar. They help us sleep better. They improve our mood. They motivate us. They make all of our relationships better."
This local Certified Laugh Leader believes the health benefits are amazing. Exercises in laughing can be voluntary or involuntary reactions, but almost always contagious.
Medical research has proven that the body cannot differentiate between forced and genuine laughter generating such positive results.
