COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police have arrested Michael Meriwether Tuesday morning in connection to filling locks with glue to at least five Colorado Springs downtown businesses.

In a bit of a sticky situation,The First Presbyterian Church, the El Paso Democratic Party, City Hall, the Colorado Springs Independent and FOX21's Downtown Studio were all affected, police said.

Many of the businesses arrived early Morning to find that their locks had been filled with a glue-like substance.

"A substance had been placed in the locks causing them to malfunction," police said.

FOX21's Downtown Studio had its lock glued shut and the traffic portion of the show had to be moved to the main FOX21 Studio.

Christy Le Lait, Executive Director of the El Paso County Democratic Party, said they've been hit three times in the past two weeks.

"We had to have the locks completely changed. They had to drill them out," Le Lait said.

She said they have spent $1,000 in repairs. Each time the suspect has left behind strange notes.

"He's asked for asylum in Israel, he has said kill all Americans," Le Lait said. "The notes just keep getting more and more interesting."

Similar notes were also left at The First Presbyterian Church and at the Colorado Springs Independent.

Le Lait said he's also stopped by their office.

"He's definitely angry and he definitely has a lot he wants to say. Where that ends I just don't know and I did not have a good feeling," she said.

Police said they are looking for more victims.

"What we don't know is how many other businesses have been affected and that's important because depending on the cost of the criminal mischief will determine whether or not this is prosecuted as a misdemeanor or a felony, which is more serious," Barbara Miller, CSPD Public Information Officer, said.

Unfortunately, the new downtown surveillance cameras were not working at the time of the incidents so no video was available.
