UPDATE
Police arrested 41-year-old Luis Vera for this bank robbery along with two others.
According to police, detectives found a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the Wells Fargo robbery. Surveillance of the vehicle was established in the 1700 block of South Nevada Avenue and when Vera walked to his car, detectives recognized him from surveillance footage at the Wels Fargo.
Vera was transported to the Criminal Justice Center. He is charged with this burglary and one from Dec. 15 and and Jan. 15.
Colorado Springs police are investigating a bank robbery that happened near Union and Academy Wednesday morning.
The robbery happened at about 11:07 a.m., at the Wells Fargo Bank branch in the 5300 block of North Academy Boulevard.
Police said a man walked into the lobby and demanded cash. He then fled the scene.
According to police, he was seen leaving the parking lot in a gray 4-door vehicle. Police said the vehicle was heading south and possibly had Colorado license plates.
