COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police are investigating an overnight carjacking that led to a man being stabbed in the hand.
At about 4:30 a.m., Tuesday, police responded to a carjacking near the intersection of La Salle Street and Monteagle Street,
Police said the victim told them that as he was dropping off his 10-year-old son at his ex-wife's house, he left his vehicle running. That's when a two-door silver Honda Civic with dark tinted windows pulled up next to his vehicle, police said. The suspect them got out of the passenger door of the Honda and started banging on the driver's side window.
The victim, police said, was able to get his child out of the passenger door and out of harm's way.
The suspect got into the driver's side door and drove away, police said. He is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, about five-foot-eight with a heavy goatee wearing a multi-colored sports jacket and a gray beanie.
Police said the victim reached into the broken window and grabbed the suspect by his jacket. The suspect then stabbed the victim with a screwdriver and drove off.
