(AP) -- GOLDEN, Colo. -- A 17-year-old man charged with kidnapping and killing a 10-year-old Colorado girl and attacking a runner is scheduled in court.

The hearing Wednesday provides prosecutors and defense attorneys an opportunity to argue procedural matters involving Austin Sigg, who is charged as an adult in the disappearance and slaying of Jessica Ridgeway.

The fifth-grader disappeared Oct. 5 as she was walking to school in the west Denver suburb of Westminster. Sigg also is accused in a May attack on a runner who escaped.

A judge last month ruled that Sigg would be tried as an adult after his defense attorneys dropped efforts to move the case to juvenile court.

If convicted, Sigg faces up to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years.
