COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in southeastern Colorado Springs early Sunday morning.

Police found the body of a black male in the westbound lanes of Hancock Expressway near Astrozon Boulevard just after 3:40 a.m.

They believe a vehicle hit him, and then fled the scene. Hancock Expressway was closed for 6 hours as police investigated.

Officers say they have identified the victim, and his name will be released after the family is notified.

Police are still working to find the driver and vehicle that hit the man.

If anyone has information on this incident, call CSPD at 444-7000.

They are also reminding people to be cautious driving late at night, especially during the holiday season.
