DENVER (AP) -- Authorities say a student from Iran has died after he was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle while walking his bicycle across a Denver street.

Police say the 24-year-old man was hit by an SUV at about 8:40 p.m. on Thursday. He was taken to a hospital, where he died early Friday.

The medical examiner identified the victim as Masoud Bahramisharif.

The University of Denver says he was an engineering graduate student at the school.

Police say the SUV appeared to run a red light and didn't stop after the collision. The bicycle was entangled in the vehicle and dragged. It was found a few blocks away.

Police are looking for the driver and the vehicle, described as a 2000 to 2005 maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee. No arrests have been made.
