Drivers not using their turn signals may account for up to two million crashes each year.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- When it comes to the rules of the road we know the drill, but tons of us are breaking the law by neglecting to use our turn signal.
"Everyone does what they want without any penalty," Tabitha Torres, a Colorado Springs driver, said.
A new study by the Society of Automotive Engineers,shows neglecting to use your blinker is worse than distracted driving, with as many as two million car crashes per year.
"If they're in fro nt of you, and you have no idea they're turning or coming at you from the other direction, you're up a creek. You've got to slam on your brakes fast or hope you slam on your brakes soon enough," Terry Moran, a Colorado Springs driver, said.
Driving around Colorado Springs, it doesn't take long to find a driver putting you at risk.
On our drive around town we saw a red car cross over three lanes of traffic going south on Powers Boulevard with no indicator.
This bad driver's actions go hand-in-hand with the study's findings that show the neglect rate for lane change is 48 percent and 25 percent for turning vehicles.
"I had a bad accident about two years ago, and the car waited right until he got to that turn, and I tailgated him and hit him in the butt," John Williams, a Colorado Springs driver, said.
While a lot of people have complaints, for some drivers it's not until a crash happens that they learn to importance of a turn signal.
