DENVER (AP) -- Better snowfall helped draw skiers and snowboarders to the Colorado mountains in January and February, but a ski industry group says skier visits at its member resorts this winter are still below where they were at this time last season.

Colorado Ski Country USA said Friday that skier visits at its members in January and February were up 1.3 percent from the same period last season. But for the overall season through Feb. 28, skier visits are still down 4.2 percent from the same time a year ago after a dryer start to the season.

The trade group's members don't include the four Colorado resorts owned by Vail Resorts Inc.

The snow is still falling: Six Colorado ski resorts reported at least 8 inches of fresh snow Friday morning.
