COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Authorities have ruled last Friday’s downtown hotel death a homicide.

This marks Colorado Springs 9th homicide this year, police said.

It was last Friday when 36-year-old James Klinger of Colorado Springs was found inside a room at the Clarion Hotel, off Interstate 25 and Bijou, authorities said. Officers found him just after 12:30 p.m.

Police said it is believed Klinger died from an apparent gunshot wound. A cause of death has yet to be released, pending a Wednesday afternoon autopsy.
