COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A suspect was unsuccesful in stealing money from a Colorado Springs convenience store early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the Diamond Shamrock near Powers Boulevard and Palmer Park Boulevard Saturday at about 3 a.m. According to the clerk, he was confronted by a masked suspect while taking the trash out.
The suspect told the clerk to get back in the store and demanded money, police said. After noticing something "shiny" in the suspect's hands, police said the clerk fled across the street to call police.
Police said the suspect then broke the unlocked glass door and went to the cash register. The suspect was not able to open the register and ran to the northwest. A K-9 unit responded but was not able to track the suspect.
The suspect, according to police, is described as being five-foot-nine with a thin build wearing a black beanie cap with a mask, black jacket and black pants.
After reviewing security video, police said it did not appear that the suspect was able to get any cash.
