DENVER (AP) -- Warnings are up across Colorado as a winter storm moves through the state.

The National Weather Service said Wednesday up to a foot of snow is expected on the Eastern Plains. Residents on the Western Slope are bracing for up to 10 inches of snow until the storm moves out on Thursday.

State transportation department spokeswoman Mindy Crane said Wednesday this is expected to be one of the most significant snow storms this season and snow plows are gearing up to keep roads clear. Crane says hundreds of snow plows are being deployed on the Eastern Plains, while other crews are prepared to keep mountain highway arteries clear.
