COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A gunshot was fired at a home in Colorado Springs early Saturday morning.

It happened just after 1:15 a.m. at a home on E. Platte Avenue, near downtown.

Colorado Springs Police said a man, who lives one block away, was extremely drunk and tried to enter the wrong home.

Investigators said that is when the 80-year-old homeowner fired a single shot through the front door, believing the person trying to enter was a burglar.

The bullet flew over the suspect's head.

No one else was injured and no charges have been filed.
