Police: Suspect is also dead

FALCON, COLO. -- Two young children, including a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, were killed in a stabbing late Wednesday night, according to authorities.

The 3-year-old's birthday would have been February 26.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived on the scene of the reported stabbing in the 9500 block of East Woodmen Road at about 11:15 p.m., Wednesday.

When deputies got there, they found the 1-year-old child deceased. The 3-year-old child had serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Police said the 3-year-old later died from his injuries.

An alleged suspect, identified as 22-year-old Ethan Courrau, was transported to the hospital where he died, police said. No specific information on how he died was released.

Police said the suspect was not the father of the victims but was associated with the family.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims as 1-year-old Scarlett Gallagher and 3-year-old Ryan Willhite.

This case remains under investigation and autopsies are being performed.

"It is in the early states and we're not elaborating on too much detail or as far as what we believe may have occured," Jeff Kramer with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
