FOUNTAIN, COLO. -- Police have identified the body of the man that was found in Fountain Creek on Friday afternoon.

He was identified as 27-year-old Nathaniel Vialpando.

It was last Friday at about 3:30 p.m., when police said someone who was walking their dogs spotted what they thought was a body submerged in water.

Police said the body was found about 400 yards away from Interstate 25 off Bandley.

According to police, snow and ice had developed on the body.

This case remains under investigation, police said. A cause of death has not yet been released, pending a toxicology report.

The Fountain Police Department said it first got a call about Vialpando on Dec. 2.

According to the call, Vialpando was at a truck stop causing a scene. When police arrived, he was inside a white pickup. After yelling at police, he sped off, authorities said.

Vialpando turned down Bandley and went across a field before running the vehicle into a concrete barrier, police said. When police arrived to the pickup, he was gone.

After a several-hour long search, Vialpando was never found. Police said that was the last time his family had heard from him and there was never a missing person's report filed.
