FOUNTAIN, COLO. -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a Sunday evening crash that killed a man on Interstate 25.

According to CSP, the crash happened on northbound I-25 near mile marker 132, north of Fountain at about 8:30 p.m.

CSP said a 1995 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 19-year-old David Collas of Colorado Springs, was traveling northbound when it lost control and spun across the northbound lanes and into the center median where it rolled.

David, CSP said, was ejected. He landed in the left lane of southbound I-25 where a 2008 Ford Sedan ran him over and dragged him for about 300 feet, police said.

Police said David died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, CSP said.

David, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, was the son of Battalion Chief Ted Collas. He was also a seasonal employee with the CSFD's Mitigation Crew.

"The Colorado Springs Fire Department is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of David Collas," the fire department said in a release. "David was the son of CSFD Battalion Chief Ted Collas and a seasonal employee with the CSFD Mitigation Crew. David was involved in a fatal rollover traffic accident late last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family."

The driver of the Ford and its three passengers were not hurt in the crash.

CSP said excessive speed for road conditions is suspected. The crash remains under investigation.
