Pedestrian hit by truck

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening when they were struck by a pickup, according to police.

The incident happened in the area of Academy Park Loop and East Fountain Boulevard just before 6 p.m.. Police said a pickup truck was driving north on Academy Avenue when it struck a pedestrian in the far right hand lane.

The pedestian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The extent of the injuries was not known.

Police said neither speed or alcohol were factors in the incident. No charges were filed and investigation continues, police said.

Northbound Academy Avenue was closed from Pacer Lane to East Fountain Boulevard during the investigation.
