(AP) -- DENVER (AP) -- Marijuana should be regulated like alcohol, according to Colorado voters. But state officials are just starting work on how to do that.

A liquor store owner and some alcohol regulators are among the people helping write Colorado pot regulations.

A working group appointed by the governor started work Thursday on rules for marijuana sales. The group will recommend suggestions for zoning pot shops and whether state guidelines are needed for people who grow pot at home, among other things.

Another working group starting Thursday is looking at consumer safety and how to label pot.

Colorado's various pot work groups have a quick timeline. Their suggestions about regulation are due back to Gov. John Hickenlooper by the end of next month.
