DENVER (AP) -- A Denver police officer convicted of sexually assaulting and kidnapping a woman he arrested is free on bond.

The Denver Post reports 33-year-old Hector Paez can remain free for two months until his sentencing, despite concerns from his victim for her safety. A judge on Thursday set bond at $50,000.

Paez was convicted after being accused of driving the woman to a secluded spot and forcing her to perform oral sex in March 2010.

Paez claimed that he took the woman to a secluded location to question her about a drug dealer. Paez's defense attorney Gary Lozow says he will appeal.
