Colorado Springs, Colo.--Authorities responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at the Cheyenne Vista Apartments this afternoon.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, Julian Gutierrez was armed with a gun inside an apartment with a woman and a 5-year-old boy.
Officers evacuated the nearby apartment units immediately as a safety precaution.
At around 1:20 p.m., all three individuals exited the apartment, and Gutierrez surrendered.
The gun was recovered from the scene.
Authorities say Gutierrez has outstanding warrants and will be placed in custody for those warrants.
He's now facing multiple charges, including child abuse and criminal negligence.
The investigation is still underway.
