COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Spring Police officers continue to investigate a gunfire exchange.

Shortly after 8:40 p.m. Thursday night officers received numerous reports of shots being fired near Astrozn Boulevard and South Chelton Road. The reports indicated that shooters in two cars were exchanging gunfire as they drove in the area.

Officers found one of the suspect cars at the 2600 Block of Fountain Boulevard. Inside the car, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, and is expected to be okay.

Officers have also found the second car.

At this time, they have arrested 19-year-old Denzel Sanchez. Sanchez was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and was booked into the El Paso County Jail.

CSPD spokesperson Sgt. Darrin Abbink says the incident started as a verbal argument and all parties involved know each other.

The investigation is still ongoing.
