CANON CITY, COLO. -- Canon City Police officers have arrested two men and gathered warrants for five other people in connection with a string of car and home break-ins in September.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Zachary Livengood and 18-year-old Caleb Schuckert in connection with two home burglaries and 11 car burglaries. Five others are also believed to be involved in the crimes.
Officers said the thieves stole an estimated $7,000 in supplies ranging from guns and electronics to sporting goods. About $2,500 worth has been returned to owners.
Livengood, who is on parole out of California, is the leader of the group, according to officers.
Officers are looking for 22-year-old Miguel Cruz, 49-year-old Andrew Jauert, 19-year-old Tyler Davenport, 19-year-old Stacy Smith and a 17-year-old girl.
All face charges, and the six adults face bonds ranging from $3,000 - $30,000. Charges vary by person and include possession of a weapon by a previous offender, first degree criminal trespass, theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, criminal mischief, distribution of drugs, second degree burglary, conspiracy, accessory to a crime, theft by receiving and drug possession.
