COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The on-post culinary options are celebrating all things turkey as we close in on Thanksgiving at Fort Carson.
Army leadership serving roughly 4,000 Thanksgiving meals to soldiers celebrating the holiday as a family unit.
"I've been in the Army now for five years and every defect so far has been awesome even downrange in Afghanistan," Witte Sean, of Fort Carson said.
Dozens of soldiers making their way to the table Wednesday, the theme for the Stack Dining Facility is Mardi Gras which means seafood gumbo, cajun fried chicken, besides your traditional turkey dinner.
The cooks working extra hard to provide a great meal for the Mountain Warriors who sacrifice so much for the community.
"I'm thankful for my family they support me in everything I do, whether it's being deployed or everyday work, they love me, I love them," Specialist Justin Rios, of Fort Carson said.
But the fun times don't come without a little bit of competition each hall is vying for the "Best Decorated Dining Facility" and "Best Centerpiece" competitons they take seriously.
"Come over to Stack Dining and have Thanksgiving with us," Lewmas Laurinaitis, Stack Dining Facility said.
The 4th Infantry Division is also celebrating it's 95th birthday so each dining facility is preparing a cake that will be judged in a "Best Cake" competition.
