PUEBLO, COLO. -- Pueblo Police officers said sun glare is to blame for a crash involving a pedestrian Tuesday.
According to officers Ralph Trujillo was driving west on Lehigh Avenue and had a green light but not a green arrow, and tried to turn left onto Pueblo Boulevard.
Theresa Herman was crossing Pueblo Boulevard and had a walk signal. Trujillo turned and hit her in the crosswalk.
Herman was hospitalized but is now in stable condition.
Trujillo was cited for careless driving resulting in bodily injury and released from the scene.
Drugs, alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
“With the changing of the seasons and recent time change, the sun will become more of a factor on the morning and evening commute," Sgt. Chris Noeller said. “Keeping your windows clean can help with visibility under these conditions. As always the Pueblo Police Department ask everyone to drive safe.”
