DENVER (AP) -- Airlines are flying more than two dozen planes that were positioned at Denver International Airport to prevent them from being stranded on the East Coast.

Airport officials said about 30 planes parked at DIA overnight Tuesday, three times the number of aircraft that usually park there.

Hurricane Sandy has canceled thousands of flights across the country. About 110 flights were expected to be canceled through Denver on Tuesday.
