Four nonprofits get Waldo Canyon Fire assistance

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Four more nonprofit organizations will be receiving grants from the Waldo Canyon Fire Assistance Fund.

The fund committee announced the approval of funds Thursday. They will be granting organizations that are actively helping victims of the fire.

Grants were awarded as follows:

Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountain:  $126,798
Salvation Army:  $85,000
Coalition For the Upper South Platte:  $23,856
Silver Key:  $10,000

Total:  $245,654

Eleven organizations submitted requests for grants. The fund has now made 14 grants totaling $624,941 and has about $300,000 left to distribute.

Interested organizations should contact the Pikes Peak United Way.
