COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Just as quickly as it arrived it was gone. Before the doors at Bristol Brewing Company even opened Monday morning hundreds were lined up around the block.

"We're really excited about what's happening here today. This is the pre-sale of the Venetucci Pumpkin Ale," Dianne Bertini, Beer Evangelist at Bristol Brewing Company, said.

This is the sixth year the ale has been sold and each year it grows in popularity making it more difficult to get.

"We showed up really early. We thought that no one would be in line," Daphne Williams, who was number 11 in line, said.

Williams was just one of hundreds who waited patiently to place their order.

"This has become a tradition for some people. It is a beautiful beer and people love the community aspect and so they're willing to wait in line," Bertini said.

"We waited almost exactly an hour and a half and we were about 100 deep in the line," Terrence Green said.

Those in line couldn't enjoy their beer Monday but those that have had it before said it's some of the best beer in town.

"It's got a wonderful flavor. It's something that I would suggest that people buy for Thanksgiving and Christmas for the holidays, it's got that holiday feel to it," Williams said.

"The balance of spices. The base of the beer. It's really nice and mellow but yet still comforting. Kind of like a fresh pumpkin pie that your grandma would probably make," Green said.

To add to the taste the proceeds go to a good cause, making it one drink beer lovers can feel good about consuming.

"The proceeds go back to Venetucci Farm," Bertini said. "Through the sales of that pumpkin ale we are able to support Venetucci Farm and to keep Mr. Venetucci's tradition of giving to kids in the Pikes Peak Region alive."

"I think it's great that they all showed up because they're supporting the same effort that we all are to help children have access to the outdoors and adventure," Williams said. "I'll stand in line every year, in fact I'll be first in line next year."

Pre-sale began at noon Monday and by 3:00 p.m. the ale was sold out.

Sales were limited to four bombers (22 oz. bottle) per person.

Those who couldn't make it aren't completely out of luck. There will be a limited amount of the ale available for purchase on its release date October 25, at 5:00 p.m.

The beer will also be distributed to a few local liquor stores after the 25th.

"This beer does not last long so if you see it in a liquor store pick it up. If you see it in a bar or a restaurant somewhere have a pint of it because it won't be around for long," Bertini said.
