DENVER (AP) -- The owners of a Denver restaurant have been getting death threats and angry phone calls and emails after they say they turned down a campaign visit by Mitt Romney.

Oscar Aguirre owns Rosa Linda's Mexican Cafe with his parents. They started getting angry messages after Westword reported their decision Tuesday. He said some mistakenly thought they had refused to serve Romney.

In August, Aguirre says a Romney supporter requested bringing the GOP candidate to the restaurant partly because his parents are Mormon but they refused. He says they're not partisan, would welcome a sitting president but don't want to be a campaign stop.

A campaign spokesman told The Denver Post it only asked the restaurant to join the campaign and host occasional events and regrets the anger being directed the owners.
